Dental Implants

Your dentist may refer you for implants to replace missing teeth. The implants are titanium and are placed in the jaw bones, where they heal to the bone over a period of 3 to 6 months. This allows your dentist to make a crown or bridge to match your existing teeth that can be screwed permanently onto the implants.

The process can usually be carried out under a local anesthetic and there is minimal post-operative discomfort. A second surgery may be needed in some cases to uncover the implant to allow the crown to be fitted, and again is a minor procedure done under local anesthetic.

In some advanced cases, computer planning is used for exact placement of the implants to give the best results. This will be discussed with you at the time of your consultation.
